South Sudan – School Library Project
School Library Project, Lokilliri Village South Sudan
In the past, we have supported the school children by providing trainers. Firstly, to the Orphanage in Uganda where many of the children fled during the troubles. The second time we worked in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Coventry to provide even more brand-new trainers.
This year we are looking at how we can help the school children in and around the village of Lokilliri, South Sudan. (Fr. Moses home village) We plan to send books to the school. Our original idea was to send them in a 40-foot container and leave the container at the school as the library. But this is very expensive, so now we are talking to members of the local community to see if it would be better to build a room on site or buy a container more locally. It is the shipping of the container that is costly.
As part of our fund raising in conjunction with The Rotary Club of Coventry held a Charity Concert at Earlsdon Park. It was a very successful event and we raised £1250. http://bit.ly/2qFS8J4 A cheque was presented to Fr. Moses by the Rotary Club of Coventry. http://bit.ly/2sX1O0Q
We thank the Earlsdon Echo for including articles about the event in their May and July editions.
We also thank all the artists who gave their time and talents for free. It was very much appreciated and we look forward to working with them again in the future.
If you know of any school in the Coventry UK area that have library books they no longer need please feel free to ask them to donate them to our appeal.
